Challenges

The SkyPark at MBS consists of 12,400m² of roof area supported on three towers. The drainage system had to handle extreme rainwater loads across a cantilevered structure hovering 200m above ground, with zero tolerance for drainage failure at one of the world's most iconic landmarks.
The entire 340m length of the 'boat' structure is suspended over the towers and public areas below. Any drainage failure would have catastrophic consequences. The complex geometry and constrained drainage routes within the SkyPark structure presented an extreme engineering challenge.

Solutions

Fast Flow made full use of the potential energy from the extreme building height, designing a high-efficiency siphonic system that harnesses gravity over the full 200m tower height to achieve maximum drainage velocity with minimum pipe sizes.
Composed the drainage requirements into a series of coordinated siphonic circuits, routing drainage through the tight structural zones of the SkyPark and down through the tower cores with precision-engineered pipe routing.

Achievement

Only 9 nos of D150 siphonic rainwater pipes were required to drain the entire 12,400m² SkyPark roof — a remarkable feat of hydraulic engineering efficiency that no conventional gravity system could have achieved at this scale and height.
