Challenges
  • The interlocking block configuration eliminates conventional vertical continuity, preventing rainwater drainage stacks from running directly from the roof to the ground.
  • Rainwater downpipes from each six-storey block must be consolidated and routed horizontally through extremely congested M&E transfer spaces before reaching the shared service cores located at the block interlocking points.
  • This presents a particularly critical challenge for balcony drainage. Long horizontal collector pipes without gradient can generate transient pressure fluctuations, creating a significant risk of water backflow into connected balconies during heavy rainfall.
Solutions
  • Fast Flow's siphonic drainage system enables large-capacity horizontal rainwater transfer without pipe gradients, allowing roof drainage from each block to be efficiently conveyed through the constrained M&E transfer spaces to the central service cores.
  • Fast Flow's patented psBalcony® pressurised balcony drainage system was developed specifically for this application. By incorporating the patented psVent® anti-backflow technology, the system safely conveys balcony discharge through horizontal collector pipes without slope while preventing transient pressure from causing backflow into balcony outlets.
Achievements
  • Successfully integrated both the siphonic roof drainage system and the psBalcony® pressurised drainage system within highly congested M&E transfer spaces, maximising usable building space while maintaining exceptional drainage performance.
  • Eliminated the risk of balcony backflow through the application of Fast Flow's patented psVent® anti-backflow technology, ensuring reliable operation even under peak storm conditions.
  • Delivered a highly customised drainage solution that overcame one of the most complex drainage challenges created by the building's iconic interlocking architecture, while fully preserving the architect's design vision.
