Queensland Institute of Medical Research and Development (QIMR)

Background

Invited by Opus Quantec McWilliam (Opus International) Hydraulic Consultants, representing co-stakeholders like the Queensland State Government, Queensland Institute of Medical Research, John Wardle Pty Ltd Architects / Wilson Architects and Watpac Australia Pty Ltd in 2008, Fast Flow Australia seized the chance to participate in the design development of a new building for the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and Development (QIMR), one of Queensland’s largest and longest serving medical research institutes.

Challenge

FastFlow was tasked to provide design and installation of an aesthetically appealing, world-class Siphonic Roof and Terrace Rainwater Drainage system for a landmark $80 million QLD government project.

Solution

With reclamation of rainwater a high priority, Fast Flow Australia utilized our unique design capabilities, coupled with our exclusive terrace outlets, to capture all 2,186 sq. m. of hardstand areas on the project

Outcome

The successful application of Fast Flow Siphonic design and technology resulted in well-deserved recognition and praise from project key stakeholders. Our exceptional design engineering capabilities meant that we could not only meet and exceed project expectations, but improve on initial design concepts to add further value and benefit to the Project as well. The lengthy developmental phase spent on the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and Development was well-rewarded, with Fast Flow Australia setting benchmark milestones and inspiration for similar future projects.
